How splitting works
A grid splits an image into rows (horizontal bands) and columns (vertical bands). 2 rows × 3 columns gives 6 pieces, numbered left to right, top to bottom. Each piece is cut from your original pixels, so nothing is stretched, enlarged or cropped.
- Upload an image or try the example.
- Pick a preset, or enter rows and columns.
- Choose PNG or JPG.
- Download single pieces or the ZIP.
Files are named like artwork-row-01-col-02.png.
FAQ
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is processed on your device and is not sent to or stored on any server.
What if the size doesn't divide evenly?
Leftover pixels are spread across the first rows or columns, so pieces differ by at most one pixel. No area of the image is skipped or repeated.
Will quality change?
PNG export is lossless, but your browser's colour and transparency handling can still slightly change pixel values, especially semi-transparent ones. JPG is compressed, so it is lossy, and transparent areas become white. Colour profiles and metadata are not kept.
Why are there size limits?
Phones have limited memory. Files up to 25 MB and 40 megapixels (for example 8000 × 5000) are accepted, and the size is checked before the image is decoded. These limits reduce crashes but cannot guarantee that every device will cope. If a piece would be very large, add more rows or columns.
Can I make a bigger image from the pieces?
No. Splitting does not add detail. Each piece has only the pixels it came from.
